I realized something today

When i’m satisfied with my work I don’t feel the need to post stuff on the internet.

Moving on until further notice.

The Collect Pond sat exposed (and early on functionally to the locals) from the birth of New York City until around 1813.  Just imagine how cool it would be if some vestige of that pond had survived to the current day.
(That’s Chambers to about Canal south to north and Duane st. to Mulberry west to east)
sigh, yo.

Rangel down…  Rangel down…

It’s so funny and a bit messed up to catch wind of this just as I finished reading the chapter on Tammany Hall in Luc Sante’s excellent “Low Life”.  Considering the sometimes cartoonish crimes and indiscretions that the entire history of NYC politics have produced, it really does feel like these censures are in fact utterly politically motivated as Rangel even states in his response.

“Politics as it has been classically practiced in New York City, which is to say a form of vice midway between gambling and whoring, a game for the strong, an affliction upon the weak, and a joke to those fortunate enough to regard it from a distance.”   -Sante
